Childcare saved! Next steps…

Oak Bay for All is overjoyed to report that Oak Bay Council voted to keep the childcare in the Carnarvon redesign project!! 🎉🎉🎉 We sent in over 100 letters to our elected officials.

Voting in in favour of keeping childcare in the project: Appleton, Green, Watson, Smart, Braithwaite. Voting opposed: Murdoch, Paterson

Final approval will come back to Council in July, but for now this is a win. Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who spoke up!

This win reflects our value of solidarity: even if for many of us our kids will be too old to benefit by the time the new project is built, or our kids are already out of the childcare phase, preserving care for future children and parents is the right thing to do. This is an example of how when we speak up together, Council can hear us.
