Who are we?
Allison, Maggie, Sarah and Elizabeth are coordinating Oak Bay for All’s activities with the help of other progressive neighbours.

"If we work together in solidarity, we can make Oak Bay a place where regular people—renters, queer folks, kids, teens, workers, and more—can live and flourish."
Allison Jones (they/them) attended preschool and high school in Oak Bay while living in neighbouring municipalities and, after living off-island for 14 years, moved into an intergenerational duplex in Oak Bay to raise their kids with their partner, parents, and pets. They work as a librarian and are active in their union, and spend a lot of time appreciating public infrastructure like playgrounds, swimming pools, libraries, parks, buses, and tree canopies with friends and family.
-
"Oak Bay can be kinder and more inclusive. I want to work with my neighbours to make that happen!"
Maggie Knight (she/her) grew up in Oak Bay and is now raising her young kids in her childhood home. She's passionate about raising active, independent kids; building intergenerational community; and building resilience to the climate crisis.
-

"I love being part of a group that’s focusing on changes we want to see in Oak Bay—not on how to keep change from happening.”
Sarah Starkweather (she/her) has lived in Oak Bay with her family for five years. She works in sustainable building certification, sings in choirs, and digs in her garden. She feels very lucky to live in this beautiful place, and thinks it can be even better with more focus on inclusion.
-
"Mutual aid and looking out for one another is how I can help create a nurturing and resilient community in my own backyard."
Elizabeth (she/her) is a newcomer to Oak Bay. A fortuitous meeting at an Oak Bay City Council hearing brought her to this group. Active in local school board and city politics in her previous community, she believes grassroots organizing is the way to build a sustainable, connected, and joyful community where everyone thrives.
